School may have already started for most but there’s at least one camp going on. It’s called OpenCa.mp and it’s anything but ordinary.
“OpenCa.mp is a multi platform event where we are featuring sort of the big open source CMS platforms, WordPress, Joomla! and Drupal,” said Scott Ellis.
“It’s a place for informal learning, knowledge share, just meeting people and networking,” said NeoSpire Account Executive Brian Skowron.

Basically it’s a symposium for webmasters and developers, bloggers, podcasters and social media enthusiasts.
“We have speakers from all over the country,” said Ellis. “We have everything from photographers that are going to be talking about new media to folks like Brian Clark of Copy Blogger that is going to be talking about blogging in copy and individual section speakers that will get more into different tracks.”
Rachel Medley, a member of the U.S. Army’s Golden Knight’s Parachute Team, came from North Carolina.
“The U.S. Army Parachute Team is responsible for representing the hundreds of thousands of soldiers that are out there fighting everday to secure our freedoms and things like that so our job is to interact with the public in the maximum way possible and social media is the perfect outlet for that,” said Rachel Medley.

Ashley Pile from ZOMM, a company that created the world’s first wireless leash for mobile phones, came to OpenCa.mp to get the word out to bloggers about their new product.
“By talking to these people here and informing them of what this is then they can go out to their social media network and they can inform the rest of their followers and basically the rest of the world as to what this is,” said Ashley Pile.
This year’s OpenCa.mp has drawn hundreds of people to Dallas.
