The Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake Mom’s League is one of the largest in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with close to 200 members.

“We do ladies night out, runners club, variety club and sewing club,” said Leslie Kipp, Publicity Chair of Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake Mom’s League. “There’s all different kinds of things. It doesn’t matter whatever kind of interest you have there’s probably something for you.”

“Being that we are a larger group we are able to offer more activites and more resources for children,” said Susan Reynolds, President of Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake Mom’s League.

And they’re also giving back.

“One of the main things that we do that’s really great is we do community service,” said Kipp.

At every monthly meeting they pick a charity to work with.

“We will collect anything that the organization needs, from clothing to food items, to anything that the children are needing at that time,” said Mandy Teodecki, Community Service Chair of Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake Mom’s League

Over the seventeen years the mom’s league has been around they have donated about two hundred and fifty thousand dollars to local charities. Their biggest event is an annual gala.

“About four years ago we raised six thousand dollars,” said Teodecki. “Two years ago we raised thirteen thousand and five hundred. Last year we raised twenty two thousand and this year we’re going for thrity thousand.”

This year’s proceeds will go to Heroes for Children, an organization that provides social and financial support to families who have children with cancer.

“There’s so many people, especially with the economy lately that are really struggling,” said Teodecki. “It’s a tremendous thing to be able to give back and help them.”

The Mardis Gras themed gala is open to anyone and will be held on February 25, 2011.
