Sometimes it’s hard to tell Brandi Todd is actually paralyzed from the waist down. She was randomly stabbed in her back at a Stephenville, Texas park back in March of this year.

“I knew immediately I couldn’t move my legs,” said Brandi Todd.

Doctors told Brandi she only had a ten percent chance of walking. Statistically the odds may be against her, but that’s not holding the mother of two back.

“I may be in this wheelchair forever,” said Todd. “If I have a chance at walking I’m going to take it. I’m going to work.”

Brandi does many strenuous workouts each week but even when she’s tired she’s still able to crack a joke or flash a smile.

“I would just rather be happy than sad and nobody would want to be around me if I was not positive,” said Todd.

Family, friends, and even perfect strangers gravitate toward her positivity. A recent fundraiser at the House of Blues in Dallas shows how many people applaud her courage.

“Brandi is determined that this accident not define her and her being in a wheelchair not take anything from her kids,” said support Kristin Schor.

At the time of the stabbing, Brandi didn’t have health insurance. This is just one of many events that have been held to help her pay off those bills. This particular event took lots of planning and silent auction donations raising $10,000 by the end of the night.

“To everyone who’s supported me I really appreciate it,” said Todd.

Brandi says she’s determined to stay active and live a fulfilling life.

“Tons of miracles have come out of this,” said Todd.

Brandi has recently created a miracle of her own in Carlsbad, California. She is now able to stand up with assistance. It’s progress that impresses her therapists and offers inspiration to her biggest supporters.
