“Heart disease is the number one killer of American women today,” said Dallas personal trainer Daniel Crouch. “Whenever you feel the need to go ahead and try to change your life this is the best place to start at the grocery store. We decided to come to the grocery store and pick out a few foods that just might help you save your life. Almonds are a great example of a quality nut. They have monounsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat as well. They’re excellent. They’re clean. You’re not going to have to worry about getting a lot of preservatives because these things are natural and organic.”

“I think a lot of people fail to recognize how inaugural they are in their own health and certain, little choices that they make at the grocery store of all places can have such a profound effect on the way that they feel and the health of their family and the overall well being of their entire lives,” said Crouch. “Salmon is especially is really good. If you can avoid anything that is farm raised I would recommend it because organic means that it doesn’t have any of the pesticides that farm raised does. Apples are great because they’re a great source of pectin. Pectin is in the skin of apples and what it does is it cleans the plaque from your teeth and from your heart as well.”

“Avocados can get a bad rap because they have fat in them,” said Crouch. “That’s true but it’s the good fat. It’s monounsaturated fat which is great for your heart. It lowers for LDL which is your lousy cholesterol and it raises for HDL which is your good cholesterol. A lot of people take for granted that their heart is just going to pump forever. Red wine, dark chocolate and a few of the things that you might not think are healthy for you are extremely healthy for you.”
