Professional bodybuilder Stephen Frazier knows a Christmas card goes a long way in spreading holiday cheer and on Saturday Frazier and several clients took a break from lifting weights in Grand Prairie and instead focused on lifting hearts. In just a few hours, Frazier and his team delivered bags to a homeless shelter in Fort Worth.

“Everyone contributed just great,” said Frazier, Owner of SGP Fitness. ”We have tons of bags. I think it’s going to make a big difference.”

This idea wouldn’t be possible without Cindy Rodriguez, and she couldn’t help but smile while filling each bag with socks, gloves, hats, and other simple items that are sometimes easy to take for granted.

“Sometimes I get in a funk and I complain and than I think it could be worse,” said Rodriguez. “I could not have a place to sleep or a car or a great job so I think this kind of helps people to remember you need to be grateful for what you have.”

Frazier is no stranger to charity. He’s donated countless hours to giving back and urges members of his gym to do the same. He started SGP Fitness five years ago and since then he’s come to love teaching others to live healthier lives whether it be through lifting weights or providing for those less fortunate during the holidays. It took most of the afternoon to top off all the bags and when the moment arrived in downtown Fort Worth it took just a few minutes to pass them all out. Some people took their bag and left. Others stayed to say thank you.

“I’m thankful and blessed,” said Junior Patterson.

And next year these homeless men and women can expect another visit from Frazier and his team.

“We’ll do better next year,” said Frazier. “I always say get up and do something. Just do more.”

It’s proof a little goes a long way and sometimes it starts with just a simple Christmas Card inside a bag.

Fad diets, weight loss gimmicks and fitness challenges clutter the advertising airwaves all promising to provide positive results. The problem experts say is finding a regimen to adhere to. The team behind a new program called ViSalus Body by Vi™ claims it has a solution to the weight loss dilemma.

“Two thirds of Americans are overweight right now,” said Co-Founder Nick Sarnicola. “Forty percent are clinically obese and not a lot of solutions for the average person so we want to provide something for the average person.”

Along with reported weight loss results the Body By Vi Challenge offers online and offline support tools in addition to supplements to help consumers reportedly achieve their fitness goals. The actual product Vi-Shape™ Nutritional Shake Mix is designed, creators say, to help burn fat and create lean muscle.

“There’s vitamins,” said former fitness competitor Jenny Lynn. “There’s antioxidants. There’s essential fatty acids, appetite suppressants, energy drinks and a natural fat burner. It’s a whole package you take either one shake or two shakes a day. Anyone can take it.”

Patented by a team of scientists, the Body by Vi Challenge team says it is confident the product is part of the most effective weight loss program on the market.

“We’re a pharmaceutical grade supplement and it’s the highest grade supplement you can get,” said Sarnicola.

Former NFL football player, Matt Lehr, is also a Co-Founder for the supplement.

“I became very interested in the product,” said Matt Lehr. “I love training people. I love watching people change and this is one way for me to do that.”

A deterrent for many individuals taking weight loss supplements is the taste. One thing the creators of the Body by Vi Challenge wanted to ensure was a high quality taste in the product.

“When folks are in a situation where they need to lose weight, a lot of times they’ll avoid what they are supposed to consume because it doesn’t taste very good,” said Sarnicola.

With a taste that is delicious and a handful of natural ingredients, the Body by Vi Challenge is attracting consumers and believers in the product.

Thirty eight year old Tracey Yukich of Allen, Texas hasn’t always been running down the path she wanted to. In fact exercise wasn’t on her agenda at all.

“I thought that running around with my children was enough exercise,” said Biggest Loser contestant Tracey Yukich. “It clearly was not.”

With over two thirds of the United States considered over weight shows like the Biggest Loser encourage and inspire people to start making changes in their own lives.

“I remember just watching every Tuesday night and was so inspired by everyone that was on the show,” said Yukich. “I came to the conclusion that I felt like I needed that launching pad in order to get this weight off of me.”

And that’s exactly what Yukich did. She signed up for the popular NBC show Biggest Loser but on the first day of the show Yukich took to many steps for her five foot two, two hundred and fifty pound frame.

“I had a heat stroke on the first day of the show and I was really sick when I was out there” said Yukich. “The hardest thing for me was realizing that I almost died on national television.”

Yukich didn’t let it slow her down and used her first day on the show as a spring board to healthiness.

“What happened on the show was suppose to happen,” said Yukich. “That was God’s way of letting me know you know what Tracey you’re not going to be here very long if you don’t take care of yourself.”

Within the year she’s lost over a hundred pounds, obtained her personal training license and finished the Boston Marathon.

“She works so hard and I was so fortunate to be a part of it,” said Tracey Yukich’s personal trainer Kristin Johnson. “I’m so proud of her losing the weight and how its truly changed her as a person. She’s just so more confident and outgoing. She feels like she’s a better mother and a better friend.”

Yukich has run full circle. She’s now the one inspiring others to spring off their couch and get on track.

“Back in 2005 I moved to Dallas,” said certified personal trainer and figure competitor Mandi Brooks. “In 2006 I saw a poster of a IFBB Fitness Pro. Her name is Susan Groshek. She’s a trainer here in Dallas as well. I want to look like that. She looks great. There’s actually four different categories. There’s bodybuilding which is the most muscular women. There’s also fitness competition and then there’s bikini. There’s figure which is what I’m doing. It’s a little toned down; a little more feminine. You have to want it. It has to be something that you’re passionate about.”

“The people that I work with I tell them straight up I just say if your heart’s not into it don’t do it because it takes one hundred percent commitment,” said Mandi Brooks certified personal trainer Jonathan Irizarry.

“Anybody can get in the gym for an hours and anybody can do cardio for an hour but eating healthy is a twenty four hour thing,” said Brooks. “If you really want to take it that step further and get on stage you have to really be determined. You have to be driven. This has to be your passion. It can’t just be something that’s like oh okay I can get in shape. It has to really be something that you want to do. The closer you get to a show the more cardio you do so you have to schedule in usually about up to three hours of training everyday. It’s really hard but it’s totally worth it.”

“My upcoming event is I’ve actually decided to do a show this year in July,” said Brooks. “It’s the Branch Warren Classic.”

“With Mandi Brooks she has what it takes to do this sport and go very far,” said Irizarry. “I mean from what I’ve seen from her from the past couple of shows her genetics are insane. She has the most potential I’ve seen from a female in a long time and all she has to do is just really dial it in. That’s what we’re going to try to do in this next show and I promised her first place if we get where we need to be.”

“For me it’s knowing that I’m going to get on stage, look my best and get up there and hopefully win my next show,” said Brooks.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are releasing their new workout DVDs nationwide tomorrow.

“The DVDs are awesome because they actually feature things that we really do to stay in shape,” said Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Ally Traylor. “First and foremost we’re mainly a dance team. We dance all the way throughout the game. There are 3 different types of workout. You have everything from a calorie blasting dance cardio workout and you got a hard body bootcamp. You also got a body slimming yoga.”

Along with exercise the cheerleaders stay fit by keeping healthy snacks at their finger tips.

“Our best friend are those individual packets of tuna and almonds,” said Traylor. “We cannot get enough almonds. There are almonds all over our locker room. We always have huge bags of apples.”

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders director Kelli Finglass’s office has become emphasis for the room where the cheerleaders get cut from the team during the women’s training camp.

“It’s maybe uncomfortable for me that my office has now become kind of the dooms day for many of them but there’s also a lot of good things that happen in that office to.”

Finglass says good health habits is a main focus for the organization.

“They don’t focus on diet, starvation or skinny,” said Finglass. “They focus on burning calories, cardio, strength, flexibility and conditioning. If somebody does the workout over and over they’ll actually know some of our choreography and recognize some of it on the field.”

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders workout DVDs hit shelves on October 6th nationwide.

Want to get dirty and have fun? Then this is for you! It’s the 2009 Mud Run for charity. Thousands from all over descend upon DFW for this event. It’s a 6-mile course featuring over a dozen obstacles. The catch? It’s a boot-camp style course consisting entirely of mud.

Proceeds are donated to various charities around DFW. For a dirty time check out www.mudrundfw.com and sign up for the next race taking place on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 in Forth Worth on the Trinity River Trail. Take a look at the video above!
