Nastia Liukin launches fashion line Supergirl [HD]

Gymnastics golden girl Nastia Liukin has not made a decision about competing in the 2012 Olympics yet.

“I have not committed either way one hundred percent,” said gymnast Nastia Liukin. “I think by the end of the year I am going to decide which way I am going to go.”

“I hope of course she is going to come back into the gym and everybody misses her but at the same time we all understand that there is a life beyond gymnastics,” said Nastia’s father Valeri Liukin.

But that doesn’t mean she isn’t keeping busy.

“Ever since I was 12 years old I designed every single leotard I competed in,” said Liukin. “I just had that passion for it but I never thought I would have the opportunity to do my own fashion collection.”

From gymnastics to the runway world champion and gold medalist Nastia Liukin is launching her new fashion line Supergirl.

“To be able to see the gymnastic world and the fashion world collide has been incredible and such an amazing opportunity,” said Liukin.

Liukin has teamed up with Warner Bros. Entertainment and JCPenney to bring Supergirl to North Texas.

“To be here in my home town means so much to me and also just to see kids out here with their families and their parents it’s been so exciting to do this,” said Liukin.

Fans were treated in Frisco to a short gymnastics performance followed by a Supergirl fashion show and an autograph signing.

“I went to JCPenney the other day and I saw the clothes and it was really cool to see my own teammate’s clothes in JCPenney,” said gymnast Sabrina Schwab.

“We wanted to make Supergirl by Nastia very affordable because this is the age that kids are growing so you don’t want to buy something that is one hundred dollars and then they grow out of it in a few months,” said Liukin.

Hey Dallas! I am originally from Orange, California and grew up playing softball, soccer, basketball, and track. I also participated in television commercials and movies during my childhood. After graduating high school, I accepted a full scholarship to the University of Oklahoma to play softball for the Sooners. I was an elite scholar athlete all four years at University of Oklahoma. I was a 3 time All-American, 2007 Big 12 Player of the Year, and Academic All-American. I have traveled and played internationally representing the USA in Pan American Games in Hermosillo, Mexico; The Junior Olympics in Nanjing, China and The University Games in Tai’nan City, Taiwan. During my time at Oklahoma I completed an internship at KWTV News 9 in Oklahoma City, and worked as a freelance reporter for the Oklahoma High School Sports Express television show. I also worked as the Sooner Sports Network Softball Color analyst both on the radio and television. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 2007, and was the 7th pick in the first round of the National Pro-Fast pitch League draft. After two successful seasons with the Akron Racers I returned home to California, where I continued my career in sports broadcasting. I worked in the media department of the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks. I also worked in the sports department at CBS/KCAL 9 in Los Angeles. I have recently found my way to the Dallas area to follow my dream of being a sports reporter.
