The Society of Young Philanthropists is a non-profit organization new to Dallas that contributes its resources and skills to many different charitable causes.
“For us it’s not about one cause,” said Founder of SYP Elishia Bolour. “It’s whatever is important to young people at that time.”
Right now SYP is focusing its attention on eliminating domestic violence by raising money for Genesis Women’s Shelter.
“These non-designated funds allow us to give her exactly what she needs to begin a new life,” said Executive Director of Genesis Women’s Shelter Jan Langbein. “This isn’t just nice. This is vital and it is life changing.”
“The number one thing I can say is hope,” said President of SYP Dallas Kent Arnold. “If you’re helping people out it makes you feel a little better.”
SYP selected Genesis to be the beneficiary of its debut event because the organization feels that their generation has seen enough of domestic violence.

My closest girlfriend was a victim of domestic violence years ago. The scars it leaves on the inside can be far worse than the physical trauma, if you’re lucky enough to get out. Thank you for making an impact on your generation’s awareness that is a serious and preventable matter.
