When you hear the slang term redneck you normally don’t think opera. Of course when you hear Out of The Loop you probably don’t think theatre festival either but these odd pairings have found a home in Addison’s Out of The Loop Fringe Festival.
“As artistic directors have some theatre companies that are sort of suburban we longed for an opportunity to work on some material that was not necessarily a fit for our main stage seasons,” said Addison WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Terry Martin.
Eccentric acts along with the theatre’s location outside of the I-635 Loop led to the festivals uncommon name and being a little out of the norm is just fine with the event organizers.
“We were intrigued by the idea that Out of The Loop also has the connotation of being odd so that’s how kind of the name came up and how the festival began as an opportunity for us as theatre artists to work on things that were a little bit more edgy,” said Martin.

The Out of The Loop Fringe Festival is not your typical festival and one act proving this point is the 3 Redneck Tenors. When you first hear the 3 Redneck Tenors speak you’d never know that they were classicly trained musicians who never break character.
“I used to spend a lot of time by myself by the pond swimming around and eating things I found on shore,” said 3 Redneck Tenor member Billy Bob. “Sometimes when I got real lonely I’d sing to myself. It turns out I’m pretty good.”
“They’re phenomenal, natural comedians but they’re phenomenal classically trained musicians as well,” said Martin. “For people with that kind of background to find this way to reach a broad audience; to make people laugh and yet wow them with their musicianship; that’s really, really smart.”

You’ll find more then just the 3 Redneck Tenors at the festival.
“There’s something for everybody,” said Martin. “We’ve got dance. We’ve got music. We’ve got solo artists. We got plays. To have this much going on in this building in a ten day time it’s really an incredible opportunity and it’s so reasonably priced.
This one of a kind festival with equally, unique acts ends March 14th.
