“I have grown up watching Alyssa [Milano] everything from Who’s the Boss all the way up through the movie she just did for Lifetime,” said Bethany Bull.

Alyssa Milano fans came out in force as the silver screen star raises awareness for a cause near and dear to her heart.

“I had a speech here but I kind of feel like I need to speak from my heart,” said UNICEF Ambassador Alyssa Milano.

UNICEF is an organization that raises money to help children from dying of preventable causes. The University of North Texas hosted a presentation for the UNICEF organization which costs ten dollars a ticket but UNT student got a better deal.

“UNT was able to give the students with an ID free tickets,” said Bull.

Milano explains how she became an ambassador for UNICEF.

“I contacted UNICEF in the end of 2002 and we had a meeting,” said Milano. “I said I’d love to help and do whatever I can. In 2003 they appointed me a goodwill ambassador.”

UNT raised over four thousand dollars for UNICEF. It was the largest donation of any other college in the nation but the giving did not stop there.

“I was actually so inspired by the work that you guys have done here that I to am going to meet the donation dollar for dollar,” said Milano. “Every single day twenty four thousand children under the age of give die from preventable causes. These children are not getting food and water. These things that are so vital not only for their health but also for their development of their brain. If a child is malnourished their brain will not develop to the fullest capacity.”

While drastic studies were used to demonstrate the dire need for assistance it truly was a night of celebration.

“Today we’re celebrating the college students here at UNT and across the nation answered the call to do whatever it takes to save a child’s life,” said Milano. “I congratulate you guys from being the first campus challenge winners.”

I love news. If I am not watching the news, I am chasing the news. This is the part where most reporters would brag about what degrees they have and where they went to school, but I do not have a degree. I got where I am with hard work and a lot of networking! I am also a reporter for ICTN-TV, which is a local TV station in Irving TX. My ultimate goal is to host my very own TV talk show based in Dallas TX. I know this will take a lot of work and dedication, but I am built for that! When I am not reporting, I love to spend time with my husband and close friends. I love to laugh and I love to make people laugh. I have a big heart and I share it with the people I love. I often make friends with every person I interview, and I really put my heart into my work.
