“I had pillows that had feathers in them so they were crunchy, hard and poky,” said The Pillow Bar customer Pam Singer.
What is inside your pillow you sleep on may surprise you.
Duck feathers, steams, toes and beaks,” said The Pillow Bar inventor Marrimac Dillon. “Things you don’t want in your pillow.”
Marrimac Dillon was having a hard time sleeping for years.
“I started buying all these expensive pillows thinking that would help my problem,” said Dillon. “I ordered them off the internet. I went to stores and bought them and they only sold them by soft, medium or hard.”
Dillon also started taking notice of those tags on the sides of all pillows.
“When you start reading it the tag says eighty percent feathers and twenty percent duck down,” said Dillon. “That is gross.”
Dillon decided to create her own pillow line.
“My goal is to change the way people buy pillows,” said Dillon.
The Pillow Bar at Linen Boutique in Dallas allows customers to shape, fill and scent a pillow to fit their needs.
“The store personnel are trained to run The Pillow Bar and to help you through the process of deciding if you are a front sleeper, back sleeper or side sleeper,” said Dillon. “They make the pillow perfectly for the way you sleep.”
Dillon came up with The Pillow Bar recipe by experimenting in her garage. She decided to fill her pillows with Hungarian goose down which has no gravity.
‘I think it’s great,” said The Pillow Bar customer Sara Fayegan. “You have to get a good night sleep.”
Lavender is also part of the recipe for the The Pillow Bar.
“There are several studies that have proven if you smell lavender oil or lavender thirty minutes before you go to bed you will have a better night sleep,” said Dillon.
The Pillow Bar is at only one location in Dallas.
