What’s cooking in the Three Dog Bakery kitchen in Southlake, Texas may catch you by surprise.
“We have an executive chef on staff full time,” said Three Dog Bakery owner Christy Howard. “We make wonderful treats.”
The Three Dog Bakery is the only bakery in DFW that serves treats for dogs and it’s getting rave reviews.
“They do a good job of making some good stuff for the dogs,” said Three Dog Bakery customer Timothy Baker.
“We use whole wheat,” said Howard. “We use the whole kernel. We sweeten everything with apple sauce and honey.”
With drooly dream bars, puptarts, boxer brownies and lickety splits pups have a hard time keeping their paws off the food.
“Our lickety split is our version of doggy ice cream,” said Howard. ” That’s probably our most popular item. We tend to always be making a batch of lickety split. Typically dogs come in and they’re excited to come in. The excitement from running to the car to the back of the bakery usually requires about a 2 hour nap.”
The bakery isn’t quiet often. Once dogs start coming in after rush hour it’s hard to find a place to stand.
“It’s pet nirvana,” said Three Dog Bakery customer Jana Baird. “It’s dog nirvana. My dog is so excited when we pull up in the parking lot. She wants to come inside the Three Dog Bakery and play.”
“It probably is unsual for people to bring this many dogs to this place but it feels like home,” said Three Dog Bakery customer Amy Maddox.

My fiance’ is drooling at the screen, and he’s human! This place is great! Caiden, our four-legged friend, is definitely going to Three Dog Bakery for his bday. Don’t tell him that’s still a couple months away. Great job Sarah! What a fun place for viewers to know about!
